Here are some of the trending health topics to look out for ... Matcha This vibrant green delight is taking the world and instagram by storm. I've even seen matcha donuts appearing (seriously). Matcha is a Japanese green tea and is packed with health benefits
Turmeric Not exactly new or ground breaking I know but the turmeric trend continues with lots of google trend hits. Turmeric is a powerful anti-inflammatory & anti-oxidant that has been used for thousands of years in India. The medicinal component of tumeric is curcuminoid. Unfortunately curcuminoids are not absorbed into the bloodstream easily so if using tumeric in cooking it is best mixed with peppercorns to increase absorpton. Mindfulness Again, not exactly new to the scene but mindfulness continues to trend upwards. Mindfulness can be used in all aspects of life. Lecturers at Endeavour College often begin lectures with a mindfulness session to make sure students are in the zone. Mindfulness is a great tool for health & wellbeing. Nutrition for your Genes Nutrition and diets have come a long way since the blood type diet. Did you ever think it was strange that we could fit everyone into 4 diet types, A, B, AB, O?? I did! Anyway, that theory has been shot to pieces by science, the new kid on the block is genetic testing to find out if you carry snps (pronounced snips) or mutations on your genes that can make you more likely to react or have health problems when consuming certain nutrients, including; caffeine, gluten, saturated fats, iron & many others. Nutrigenomix offers a gene test for 45 genes that are specific to nutrition. Contact me for further information on this. Hygge A little like mindfulness, but so much cuter, Hygge (pronounced hue-gah) is a Danish word that means being cosy, warm & fuzzy, and creating a feeling or mood that comes from taking genuine pleasure in making every day moments more meaningful & beautiful.
The art was created by the Danish to relieve boredom, cold, & dark. With so many cold, dark, days, the simple act of a lighting a candle to have with a meal and making the table looking pretty, can create a warmth within.
